A letter for my German friend Armin

Standard

I met Armin in Oct. 2005 in Shenyang as an interpreter for him in his investigation of poor people’s living condition in China. He was once a professor in Berlin University teaching sociology and, furthermore,  he is an anarchist. We have been keeping in touch with each other since his returning to Germany. Here’s my latest letter for him.

Armin,

No messages from you for a long time, how about your situation now.

It’s going to be the Olympic Games and I’ve taken part in the volunteer candidates for Olympic football game held in Shanghai.More than 1400 students applied for it in my university and only 40 will be chosen.I think I may probalblely be one of the last 40s. If so, I will devote my July and August to the volunteer job. But, I rather like this kind of no-vocation summer.

Mentioned volunteer, I am now a volunteer in Shanghai museum. I am trying to study Chinese culture well and know from heart why I should love my motherland so much. If Armin come to Shanghai again, I will volunteer to guide you around this famous Chinese art museum.

In the first week of this semester, I met a German exchange student from Mannheim University called Arno by chance. He is quite nice and we are quite close friends now. His blog is as follow web address http://blog.broad-minded.net . His experiences in China are there.

Recently, there’s an unpleasant conflict among western goverments, medias and Chinese people. The government of your country especially the Minister Mrs. Merkel seems like Dalailama so much and has done so many things ignoring Chinese people’s feeling. The German medias like RTL, N-TV, BILD had the Nepal’s violent pictures on to publish Tibet riot news. Even Spiegel, the magazine on which had Armin’s pictures, also made prejudice reports. Armin might notice these reports through medias. I am wondering whether or not you and your friends really believe in the media’s stories. I’d like to see a sociologist’s view about this affair just like Armin’s.

 Greetings!

Yours David

  1. He is kinda democratic activist. If the mainstream of China liked him this society would be terrific and comfortable to stay.
BTW your blog looks nice to visitor. Guess it is the best review for your effort and achivement.

  2. Thanks Taylor. I just made this kind of page feeling for only one night following a kind of passion. I love the feeling of doing things with passion.
Armin’s purpose is perfect but need much time to make it into reality.
